1. Who can join SCAS?
Any student enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences is welcome to join! We value diverse voices across all majors and encourage students at every level to get involved. However, we do require your major or at least one minor to be part of the College of Arts & Sciences.
2. What does SCAS do?
SCAS hosts events such as the ArtSci Festival, professional development panels, networking opportunities with faculty and alumni, and community engagement projects. We also advocate on behalf of Arts & Sciences students to ensure their concerns are heard at the college level.
3. When and where does SCAS meet?
We hold weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 5:30 to 6:30pm. Meetings are open to only members of SCAS.
4. How can I get involved in leadership positions?
Members can apply for committee positions (Outreach, Membership, Finance, and Events) throughout the year. Officer elections take place annually in the spring semester.
5. Does SCAS provide professional or academic opportunities?
Yes! SCAS connects students with faculty, alumni, and campus resources. We also organize professional development events and leadership opportunities to help students grow beyond the classroom.
6. What is the ArtSci Festival?
The ArtSci Festival is SCAS’s signature annual event that celebrates the intersection of arts and sciences. It brings together students, faculty, alumni, and organizations for performances, interactive activities, free food, and community building.
7. How is SCAS funded?
Our funding comes from partnerships within the College of Arts & Sciences, student organization funding boards, and fundraising efforts. We use these funds to support student events and engagement opportunities.
